POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Global Edge Consultants, leaders within Technical & Engineering Recruitment, is currently working in partnership with The University of Texas at Austin, to hire a Director, to start early 2023.
The role will be to serve as Director/CEO of CII, the Construction Industry Institute, an industry association and research unit of The University of Texas at Austin.
You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of the institute under the school of engineering, managing day-to-day operations and implementation of policies Board of Advisors (BOA) and the University.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform high-quality leadership of the institute while adhering to its mission, vision, and values and university guidelines and policies.
Set strategic goals, develop strategies to achieve the goals, implement the strategies, monitor and report progress, and adjust as needed.
Clearly communicate vision and goals to stakeholders to gain support for the organization.
Establish and maintain excellence as well as policies, protocols, procedures, and research programs to ensure optimum performance.
Develop and deliver a broad portfolio of services to the institute’s membership.
Work with a variety of internal and external constituents to manage the interests of the institute and its staff.
Oversee CII budgeting processes and work closely with accounting representatives to monitor finances and ensure fiscal responsibility of the institute.
Present financial and other updates to the CII Executive Committee on a periodic basis.
Maintain productive relationships with the process industry practices organization, and CII’s university contacts (i.e., through the Faculty Steering Committee for CII).
Coordinate initiatives pursued by the standing committees and other institutes of the institute to ensure alignment with the institute’s goals and create a cohesive portfolio of initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage day-to-day CII operations.
Represent the institute within the university and with other organizations, individuals, and the public.
Serve on Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and BOA.
Recommend and provide advice on the institute’s policies and research programs.
Spokesperson for the institute.
Perform other association related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 20 years of increasingly responsible, results-oriented, professional experience in capital planning and construction project planning, leadership, and management on projects of various types, sizes, and complexities.
Licensed as a Professional Engineer.
Experience: Demonstrated safety, health, environmental, and security champion.
Strong organizational leadership skills.
Experience in developing strategic plans; establishing priorities, goals, and key performance indicators; developing organizational budgets and budget reprojections; and ensuring achievement of goals.
Demonstrated exceptional experience leading and managing teams and building an organizational culture and climate for success.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and timely decision-making abilities.
Experience with leading teams to develop and steward organizational budgets and reprojections.
Strong knowledge of current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in capital planning and construction project leadership, management, and execution.
Demonstrated results-oriented approach to work.
Superior verbal and written communication.
Superior presentation and facilitation skills with both small and large institutes of participants.
Demonstrated exceptional understanding of how capital projects and university businesses work.
Established ability to marshal resources to ensure achievement of staffing plans.
Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from all levels of academic; engineering, procurement, construction contractor; and service provider organizations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Austin,Texas based.
- Routine domestic and international travel as/when required.
- Relocation available for the successful individual.
- Must be able to complete standard pre-employment checks (Background / D&A).
