The

Senior Quality Officer is responsible for maintaining of the Quality Management System and monitoring the compliance of the laboratories on site to the QHSSE objectives and management systems as specified by Company QHSE Systems, Local Legislature and International Standards. Updating the system where required with guidance from the QHSSE Managers

Position duties


Reports to the Quality Manager.

  1. Ensure confidentiality and impartiality is communicated to employees , visitors , contractors and clients and is maintained for the laboratory.
  2. Assist the laboratory and monitor the implementation of the requirements of the Quality Management Systems and ISO/IEC17025 and report status monthly.
  3. Assist laboratory management with compiling Management Reviews.
  4. Ensure compliance of the laboratory to all Quality performance objectives.
  5. Document, record, monitor and evaluate in all Systems the quality incidents and audits , non-conformities and corrective actions. 
  6. Investigate, implement and do root cause analysis on nonconformities, client complaints and quality incidents.
  7. Maintain training matrix and competence records for the laboratory in the BV systems and liase with laboratory management on training requirements
  8. Effectively maintain the quality management documentation for the laboratory and manage the retention of document reviews, records and related quality documentation 
  9. Perform and record monthly internal audits of the laboratory to ensure it is aligned with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements. Attend assessments by external bodies.
  10. Monitor Laboratory performance capabilities of selected methods and ensuring validly of results by monitoring performance records
  11. Compile monthly Quality feedback report for the Laboratory
  12. Team member when Quality Risk Assessments are performed
  13. Present scheduled training and awareness sessions on BV Quality Management policies and procedures and maintain records. 

Comply with additional functions as may be required by management.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Chemistry degree, or related qualification, from a recognised local or international tertiary education institution. Or Matric certificate with 5 years laboratory operation experience
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the laboratory operations
  • Good English and Portuguese
  • ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Auditor qualification will be and advantage

Above average computer literacy in MS Office and MS Excel skills.
