Our client, a global leading provider in the Energy industry, is looking to appoint a successful Community Relations Supervisor to be based in Cabo Delgado.
JOB DIMENSIONS
The primary focus of the Supervisor is to provide support, lead, and oversee the activities in the communities affected by the Project., the Supervisor shall ensure good community-project relationships, and build trust and community buy-in through the implementation of the CR Plan in the communities under his/ portfolio. The HSE Superintendent shall:ACTIVITIES
The Community Relations supervisor will have the following responsibilities:- Lead Implementation of Community Relations (CR) Plan: Assume responsibility for leading the implementation of the Community Relations) Plan in the designated geography.
- Develop CR Plans: Create quarterly, monthly, and weekly Community Relations Plans aligned with the annual CR Plan, detailing goals, key activities, and timelines for engagement activities.
- Oversee CR Programs: Manage and oversee the implementation of ongoing community relations programs and activities within the geography.
- Distribute Project Materials: Ensure that project disclosure materials are distributed to affected communities and stakeholders, including district-level government, opinion leaders, and organizations, to facilitate stakeholder understanding and capacity to interpret project information.
- Promote the Project Image: Identify ways to promote and leverage TEPMA1’s image within IDAC communities.
- Train and Coach: Train and coach Coordinators and Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) to support the achievement of CR objectives.
- Analyze Engagement Activities: Analyze and assess the effectiveness of engagement activities, identify areas for improvement, and formulate alternative strategies more applicable to the engagement context and current community perceptions; incorporate these into a proactively developed monthly activity plan.
- Monitor CR Activities: Monitor the activities of CR in terms of timeframe and effectiveness and highlight any critical issues that may compromise project activities.
- Compile Reports: Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports and others as needed.
- Advise on Performance Reviews: Advise on the team performance review and propose training and promotion opportunities.
- Stakeholder Mapping and Analysis: Conduct stakeholder mapping and analysis to identify key stakeholders and their interests, influence, and potential impact on the project.
- Conflict Resolution: Develop and implement conflict resolution strategies to address and mitigate any disputes or issues that arise within the community.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate sustainability initiatives into community relations activities to promote long-term positive impacts on the community.
- Execute other tasks assigned by Manager.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Implementation and Oversight: Lead the implementation of the Community Relations (CR) Plan, develop detailed CR plans, manage ongoing programs, distribute project materials, and monitor activities to ensure effective community engagement and project success.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Development: Promote the organization’s image, train and coach team members, analyze engagement activities, conduct stakeholder mapping, resolve conflicts, and compile reports to foster strong relationships with the community and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCED REQUIRED
- The position requires relevant tertiary qualifications in Development, Sociology, Communications, Public Relations or Anthropology or other relevant areas.
