Position Overview
Our team is currently looking for
a
Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer for a client in the Automotive and Motorsport industry.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Simulation Model Development
- 1-2 year experience creating and maintaining vehicle models in Dymola or similar physics modelling environment.
Bonus experience:
- Simulink
- Control Systems
- C++
- Vehicle Simulation Application Engineering
- Experience with populating and calibrating vehicle model parameters.
- Experience performing correlation studies: comparing vehicle model behaviours with real-world test data.
- Broad knowledge of modelling and characterization of all vehicle systems: e.g. aerodynamics, brakes, multi-body suspensions, tires, powertrains, etc.
- Hands-On experience in physical testing to characterize vehicle systems: K&C, shaker rig, damper dynos, wind tunnel testing, inertia rigs, brake dynos, tire rig testing etc.
- Vehicle Dynamics
- Solid understanding of vehicle ride and handling dynamics principles and theory.
- Excellent understanding of dynamics of mechanical systems: including analysis in the frequency domain.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)
- Mech Eng degree. Dynamics specialties valued.
- Hands on experience with racing car operations.
- Hands on experience in physical testing of vehicle hardware systems.
- Min 1 year work experience in professional Motorsport industry - internships can be counted toward this requirement.
- Proficiency in MATLAB programming and use of MATLAB for data processing and analysis.
- Proficiency in analysis of time series data - including frequency domain analysis.
- Excellent understanding of vehicle dynamics principles across suspension, tire, and aerodynamic domains.
- Proficiency in experiment design methods, and statistical analysis of experiment data.
- Strong team player.
- Excellent communicator.
- Self-organized.
- Self-motivated.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced high-pressure motorsport environment.
- Willing to work long hours to hit deadlines.
