Our client, a global construction company, is looking to appoint a successful Mobile Crane Operator to be based in Cabo Delgado.

 

OVERVIEW

The Mobile RT Crane Operator will be responsible for safely operating a 90-ton rough terrain crane to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment. This role requires expertise in crane operation, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to operate within various job site conditions, including off-road and uneven terrain.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Operate a 90-ton rough terrain crane to lift, move, and position heavy loads, including machinery, equipment, materials, and structures.

•    Use controls to regulate the crane's movement and ensure safe lifting and placement of loads.

•    Maneuver the crane into position using appropriate signals and communication with ground personnel.

•    Inspect the crane for proper operation and perform pre-start checks, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

•    Check rigging equipment (slings, chains, etc.) and ensure that it is secure and suitable for the load.

•    Assess the ground conditions and crane setup to ensure stability and safety.

•    Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures related to crane operation.

•    Follow site-specific guidelines and safety regulations, including OSHA and industry standards.

•    Maintain awareness of surrounding hazards, such as power lines, uneven terrain, and other site-specific risks.

•    Coordinate with the lifting crew and signal persons to ensure proper load handling and movement.

•    Communicate effectively using hand signals, radio communication, or verbal instructions to coordinate lifting tasks.

•    Report any issues, defects, or hazards to supervisors immediately.

•    Perform routine maintenance on the crane, including lubrication, refueling, and minor repairs.

•    Maintain accurate logs and records of crane operations, including inspection reports and daily activities.

•    Report any equipment malfunctions or required repairs to the maintenance team or supervisor.

•    Assist with setting up and breaking down the crane as required.

•    Ensure that the crane is secured and maintained in a safe state during and after operation.

•    Work collaboratively with other team members and site personnel to ensure efficient operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Must possess a valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO for mobile cranes or equivalent) for 90T capacity.

•    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating rough terrain cranes, with 90-ton capacity.

•    Comprehensive knowledge of crane rigging, load charts, and the ability to read and understand lift plans.

•    Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and operating in various weather conditions.

•    Strong communication skills to work effectively with ground crew and supervisors.
