Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Type of Role: Contract – 12 months
Position Overview
Our team is currently looking for an Accounting Supervisor for a client in the Oil and Gas industry.
As an Accounting Supervisor, you will work with a team of accountants in assigned US GAAP accounting, including lease accounting, financial statement reporting and analysis, consolidation, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other ad-hoc assignments. You assist with leading the team in month-end closings, reconciliations, and audit processes.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Supervise team of accounting personnel located in Chesapeake, VA and Support Regional Accounting Manager and site BP's
- Manage team’s accountability for the completion of key controls and ensure that all deadlines are adhered to
- Support appropriate workload allocation, set-up of an appropriate back-up system within the team including sharing of knowledge and upkeeping of proper process documentations and system access directory
- Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to team members on a regular basis on their individual performance & complete annual performance process as per company requirements
- Constantly support team in their professional development; initiate and oversee a performance improvement plan if necessary
- Provide any required training/development for team, including developing a structured induction for new hires
- Prepare all assigned journal entries and related account reconciliations monthly
- Complete all assigned Blackline tasks and recons
- Prepare and provide monthly financial reports to management
- Complete all other assigned daily, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks
- Assist with any tax or other audits as needed
- Ensures compliance with company policies, US GAAP, SOX and local statutory laws and regulations and that business is conducted within company’s ethical code of business conduct
- Ensures that all financial data is accurate, complete and submitted in accordance with company timetables
- Where required, ensures that local statutory returns, secretarial matters and other fiduciary matters are efficiently dealt with
Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in an Accounting or Finance field
Required Experience:
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- US GAAP experience
- ASC 842 experience
- Financial statement analysis experience
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong bias for action and ability to proactively recognize and resolve issues.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Access skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Licensed CPA.
- IFRS knowledge preferred
- SAP GL and SAP BPC preferred
