Our client is an International Maritime Transports is looking to appoint a successful Shipping Supervisor to based in Pemba.

Job Purpose: The Shipping Supervisor in Cabo Delgado Province is under supervision of the Operation Manager (Functional) and Operation Manager (Operational). Based in Pemba. She/He is responsible for organizing and run smoothly under the supervision of Operation Manager the vessel agency. Interacting with vessels and port authorities and government officials.

Responsibilities:

•    Ensure cash transactions duties are discharged in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines.

•    Draft PFDA for Shipping Agency (to be validated by OM or SM).

•    In charge of the shipping department and of the operation Pemba.

•    Checking shipping documents received from clients, carriers, logistics actors.

•    Updating client on daily OPS. 

•    Following up Invoicing Process and Files 

•    Daily reporting to Ops coordinator during operation 

•    Support Operation coordinator and Managing director on tender’s quotations and other OPS

•    Negotiations with suppliers (ship chandlers, port authorities, INAMAR,...) 

•    Weekly update of Ports situation (congestion, vessel alongside, restriction) 

•    Performing monthly inventory for our liners and reporting the stock situations of Pemba port ( In/OUT on daily basis)

•    In charge of regular invoices for the department 

•    Provide monthly comments and reports on the operation and invoicing activity 

•    Petty cash controlling (meticais) related to shipping operation 

•    Responsible for getting Management approval before selecting suppliers 

•    Proper filing of operation documents 

•    Assist Finance Manager/Ops coordinator / and Top Management to identify reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts and rates. 

•    Working in coordination with the over department HR / FINANCE / OPERATION 

•    Responsible for getting Management approval before committing expenses. 

•    Proper filing of operation documents (expenses sheet / file cover / PO / POD) 

•    Assist the Operation coordinator and FF supervisor in Pemba to identify reliable suppliers, negotiate contracts and rates. 

•    Preparing Invoicing Process and Files checking before closing out in the operating system. 

•    Follow organized QHSE trainings 

•    Report any non-identified risk 

•    Comply with internal QHSE standards Report any non-conformity, customer complaint, and supplier & sub-contractor non-conformity.

 

Qualifications:

•    Degree in Logistics, Shipping or related areas. 

•    5 years of experience in similar position;

•    Fluent in Portuguese & English;

•    Vessel clearance processes. 

•    Basics of freight forwarding requirements for maritime movements. 

•    FCPA and UK anti-bribery act. 

•    O&G standards for vessel operations and onboard requirements. 

•    HSE training. 

•    Driver’s License. 

•    Defensive driving. 

•    First aid training. 

•    Firefighting training.
