Summary: To oversee civil construction activities for an ethylene storage project in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of day-to-day on-site civil works, ensuring that construction is executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with design specifications and project requirements. This role requires hands-on management of civil teams, coordination with subcontractors, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Daily Supervision of Civil Works: Oversee and direct all civil construction activities on-site, including excavation, foundations, concrete work, and structural elements related to the ethylene storage facility.
Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with design specifications, technical drawings, and relevant codes and standards.
Quality Control: Conduct inspections of ongoing work to ensure quality standards are met, addressing any issues promptly to avoid delays.
HSE Compliance: Implement and maintain safety procedures on-site, ensuring strict compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) regulations. Proactively address safety concerns to minimize risks.
Coordination with Contractors: Liaise with contractors and subcontractors to ensure their work is aligned with the project schedule and quality requirements. Address any discrepancies and provide guidance when needed.
Work Progress Monitoring: Track daily work progress and provide regular updates to the site manager and project management team. Ensure that deadlines are met and identify any potential delays early on.
Material Management: Ensure the correct use and timely availability of construction materials, coordinating with procurement teams for material delivery and storage.
Problem Solving: Resolve any on-site issues that may arise during construction, including technical or logistical challenges, in collaboration with engineers and other relevant parties.
Reporting: Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, including updates on work performed, manpower, and any safety or quality concerns.
Team Leadership: Provide direction and supervision to site workers, ensuring efficient and productive work. Foster a positive and safe working environment.
Reporting: Provide daily/weekly/monthly updates on progress and areas of concern to PMT. Timely and accurate reporting to PMT is essential.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in civil construction supervision, with prior experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, particularly in industrial infrastructure projects. Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Safety Knowledge: Excellent understanding of HSE regulations, particularly those applicable to high-risk environments such as petrochemical facilities.
Communication: Strong communication skills in English; the ability to communicate in Arabic is a plus. Capable of working with diverse teams and subcontractors.
Leadership: Proven leadership abilities, with the capability to manage and motivate on-site personnel effectively.
Problem-Solving: Proactive and solution-oriented, with a strong ability to address and resolve on-site challenges quickly and efficiently.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with construction management software and tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar tool
